Our Privacy Policy: The "Short" Version |
|
FindMyJeweler respects and values your privacy.
We stand united with other responsible web sites against "SPAM"
and other intrusive mass-marketing tactics.
For that reason, FindMyJeweler will not release any information about you to any third party
in ways other than disclosed in this privacy statement.
The "long" version of our Privacy
Policy contains a detailed description of how we use information that is entered into
our website.
When you complete a FindMyJeweler Request, the information you submitted will be accessible
to no one other than FindMyJeweler-recommended jewelers who:
- Match your request,
- Have passed all of our strict criteria, including the "secret shopper" tests, and
- Are in good standing with FindMyJeweler and with various other rating agencies.
In addition, we promise not to bombard your mailbox with excessive e-mails. Any e-mail you
receive from us will fall within the following categories:
- Confirmation of FindMyJeweler Request and summary of next steps,
- An e-mail with instructions on how to receive free assistance from our diamond experts (if you need it),
- Our multi-part e-mail tutorial (you may unsubscribe at any time),
- Our periodic jewelry buyers' newsletter (you may unsubscribe at any time), and
- A few weeks after your registration, we will ask you to rate the jeweler(s)
who serviced your request. We use this information to ensure that our jewelers deliver the highest
level of service and quality to you, and appreciate your participation in our survey.
You may discontinue any of these mailings at any time by clicking on the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the e-mail,
or by visiting our website at FindMyJeweler.com, clicking on the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page, and
submitting your request to us.
We realize that buying a diamond is usually a one-time event. For that reason, even if you don't explicitly unsubscribe from our
mailings, we will automatically discontinue all e-mails (except for the periodic newsletter, if you requested it) no later
than 6 months after your initial registration.
At FindMyJeweler, we are committed to an ever-increasing flow of free information on the Internet. We are an
information resource, not an information sponge. We are committed to respecting and maintaining your privacy. Should
you have any questions or concerns about our Privacy Policy, please send a message to us by visiting our website at
FindMyJeweler.com, and clicking on the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page.
Thank you for visiting FindMyJeweler.com, and for completing a FindMyJeweler Request.
Sincerely, The FindMyJeweler.com Team

Information Collection and Use
Information Collection
FindMyJeweler is the sole owner of the information collected on FindMyJeweler.com. FindMyJeweler
collects information from our users at several different points on our Web site.
Registration Process
In order to obtain a jeweler recommendation, a user must first complete the
registration process. During this process a user is required to provide contact
information, specifically name, e-mail address, and ZIP code. We use this information
to recommend a jeweler in your geographic area. It is optional for the user to
provide other information requested, but we highly encourage it so we can provide
the best recommendation for you.
Information Use
FindMyJeweler uses the information you provide to recommend you to one or more jewelers that, based a
thorough screening performed by diamond jewelry experts, we believe will be able to assist you with your
purchase.
Profile
We store information that we collect through cookies and log files to create a profile of
our users. A profile is stored information that we keep on individual users
that details their viewing preferences. Consequently, collected information is tied to the users
personally identifiable information to provide offers and improve the content of the site for the
user. This profile is used to tailor a user’s visit to our Web site, and to direct pertinent
marketing promotions to them. We do not share your profile with other third parties.
Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s computer tied to information about the
user. We use persistent cookies. A persistent cookie is a small text file stored on the
user’s hard drive for an extended period of time. Persistent cookies can be removed
by following Internet browser help file directions. If users reject the cookie, they may
still use our site. Persistent cookies enable us to track and target the interests of our users
to enhance the experience on our site. See the “Profile” section.
Log Files
Like most standard Web site servers we use log files. This includes internet protocol
(IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages,
platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site,
track user’s movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate
use. IP addresses are tied to personally identifiable information to enable our Web-based service.
Jewelers and affiliates
If you wish to apply to become a FindMyJeweler jeweler or affiliate, you are required to enter your name,
e-mail address, phone number, and address. All other requested information is optional. We use the information
entered to process your application, and to communicate with you on the status of your application. If
you are accepted and do become a jeweler or affiliate, the personally-identifying information you enter will
be used to regularly communicate with you regarding the status of your account with us.
Communications from the Site
Customer Service
We use your ZIP code and your request information (type of diamond jewelry requested, for example) to
match you to one or more of the jewelers in our database that have passed our strict criteria. Information
on how we test jewelers can be found here. Once
we've made one or more matches, we will send you an e-mail with the contact information of the
jeweler(s) we've selected for you.
We will also have one of our diamond experts contact you directly, to answer your questions. Our diamond
experts are all employees or contractors of FindMyJeweler, and are required to maintain the confidentiality of
our visitors.
Jeweler Survey
A few weeks after your initial registration, we will follow up with an optional survey. We use the survey
to improve the quality of our recommendations and the overall quality of the services we provide to you.
Tutorials and Newsletter
Our free e-mail tutorial and periodic newsletter will be e-mailed to the address you provide. You may
unsubscribe from either or both at any time by following the directions provided at the bottom of each e-mail, or
by opting-out on the registration page.
Jewelers and affiliates
On occasion, we send emails to our jeweler and affiliate community to keep them up-to-date on developments
at FindMyJeweler.com. If you are a jeweler or affiliate, you may opt out of receiving these e-mails by contacting
us. However, we highly recommend opting to receive these emails as they are not numerous (on average, once every 3 months)
and keep you informed of important developments at FindMyJeweler.com.
Sharing
Legal Disclaimer
Though we make every effort to preserve user privacy, we may need to disclose personal
information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is
necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served
on our Web site.
Aggregate Information (non-personally identifiable)
We share aggregated demographic information with jewelers and affiliates. Aggregate information shared
includes number of visitors within a certain period of time. This is not linked to any personally identifiable
information.
Information shared with recommended jewelers
The jewelers we recommend to you will be able to view your contact information and information about
the jewelry you are interested in purchasing. We encourage them
to contact you directly at the time that you register. All jewelers are contractually prohibited
from doing anything else with your contact information unless you make a purchase directly
from them.
Information shared with consumers
If you are a jeweler, we will share your contact information and information about your jewelry offerings
with our users as part of recommending you to them. This will generally include your company name, phone number,
address, e-mail address, website URL, fax number, and contact name. However, we will work with you to ensure that
only the contact information you wish to share is actually shared with our users, and you may change your choices
at any time by contacting us.
Business Transitions
In the event FindMyJeweler goes through a business transition, such as a merger, being acquired
by another company, or selling a portion of its assets, users’ personal information will, in most
instances, be part of the assets transferred. Please refer to our "Notification of Changes" section
below.
No other use
We do not share our users', jewelers' or affiliates' information with anyone or in any manner not described
here. This means we do not sell or rent users' information to any other third party at any time.
Links
This Web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we, FindMyJeweler, are not
responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware
when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every Web site that
collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to
information collected by this Web site.
Surveys
Our site requests information from users via surveys or contests. Participation in these
surveys or contests is completely voluntary and the user therefore has a choice whether or
not to disclose this information. The requested information typically includes contact
information (such as name and shipping address), and demographic information (such as zip code).
Contact information will be used to notify the winners and award prizes. Survey
information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction
of this site. Users’ personally identifiable information is not shared with third parties
unless we give prior notice and choice. Though we may use an intermediary to conduct these
surveys or contests, they may not use users’ personally identifiable information for any
secondary purposes.
Tell-A-Friend
If a user elects to use our referral service for informing a friend about our site, we ask
them for the friend’s name and email address. FindMyJeweler will automatically send the friend
a one-time email inviting them to visit the site. FindMyJeweler stores this information
for the sole purpose of sending this one-time email and tracking the success of our referral
program. The friend may contact FindMyJeweler by clicking on the "Contact Us" link at
the bottom of each page on our website, to request the removal of this information from our
database.
Security
This Web site takes every precaution to protect our users’ information. When users submit
sensitive information via the Web site, their information is protected both online and off-line.
We also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line. All of our users’
information, not just the sensitive information, is restricted in our offices and our internet service providers.
Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, a customer
service representative) are granted access to personally identifiable
information. Furthermore, ALL employees are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy
practices. On at least a yearly basis, as well as any time new policies are added, our employees are
notified and/or reminded about the importance we place on privacy, and what they can do to
ensure our users’ information is protected. Finally, the servers that store personally
identifiable information are in a secure environment, in a locked facility. If users have
any questions about the security at our Web site, users can send us questions by clicking on
the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of every page on the FindMyJeweler.com website.
Correcting/Updating/Deleting/Deactivating Personal Information
If a user’s personally identifiable information changes (such as zip code, phone, email
or postal address), or if a user no longer desires our service, we provide a way to correct,
update or delete/deactivate users’ personally identifiable information. This can usually be
done by clicking on "Contact Us" at the bottom of every page on the FindMyJeweler.com
website. This applies to jewelers and affiliates as well.
Notification of Changes
If we decide to make a material change to our privacy policy, we will post those changes to
this privacy statement, the homepage, and other places we deem appropriate so our users are always
aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we
disclose it.
If, however, we are going to use users’ personally identifiable information in a manner
different from that stated at the time of collection we will notify users via email and/or by
posting a notice on our Web site for 30 days.
